She has always been the singer to watch for when it comes to African music, having busted onto the scene with ‘Kele Kele’ and having stayed consistent to date.
Though never one to grace the entertainment scene in bad light, she is currently on the spotlight and it’s sadly thanks to her failed marriage and the shocking details that quickly followed.
Allow me to get you up to speed.
Back in 2013 Tiwa Savage who had only just released her first album ‘Once Upon a Time’, the album with hit singles ‘Love Me’ and ‘Wanted’, married her then manager Tee Billz (known widely as TJ) in a colorful wedding that was the talk of all the entertainment scene.
Right after that, things looked to be doing just fine. I mean, more singles and collaborations came out, she landed a great Pepsi campaign and there after a Pampers campaign which even featured for one of the first times on camera, her son Jamil.
Her life seemed a paradise but a paradise that started to fade when in 2015 she fired her husband from being her manager.
In a public statement, Tiwa and her team claimed this move was was due to the fact that her career was taking a new direction, but one that we would soon find out was in fact due to a rocky marriage.
After releasing a hit single aptly named ‘If I start to talk’via her record label Mavin Records,Tiwa Savage gave an intensive and exclusive interview with media source PulseNigeria.
In the interview (which you can watch below) this ‘Keys to the city’ femcee reveals the deep issues she has been having in her marriage which include Tee Billz’s struggle with alcohol, cheating and even cocaine.
The star narrates how she last week, woke up to news that Tee Billz (her husband) had put up scathing Instagram posts accusing her of cheating on him with her Mavin Records label mates who included Don Jazzy, Banky W and even 2Face, something she candidly denies.
Well as painful as this is to her and even as she resolved to end their marriage; Tiwa ended the interview by wishing him nothing but the best.
